Our Love Story
Gin and Dan first met in the wilderness of the Kentucky natural forests. Dan had snuck onto private property, after hearing rumors of a mythical natural spring in a forest that sprouted large hen of the woods. Gin was also in the forest, foraging for natural clay and teaching young local children how to dance in mud puddles and not bite their parents.
Dan was parched when he reached the local stream, taking the longer route by the winding creek. He reached the spring, took out an old cracked mug, and drank deeply. But when he opened his eyes, thirst quenched by the water, (which was slightly more metallic than he expected but not unpleasantly so), his eyes gazed upon a woman with dark hair, mud all over her face, arms, and her RGB t-shirt.
"Are you the woman of the spring?" He gasped, with love in his eyes.
"No. I'm teaching clay classes and you're keeping children from washing their hands." Her tone was distracted, as the children were not interested in washing themselves, and continued to bite one another, despite Gin's insistence for them to bite themselves instead of each other.
"But they must stop biting, even themselves!" Dan proclaimed, staring at the mud children from his perfect watery drinking spot. He gazed wildly around. "Have they ever tried biting a RAMP!?"
And with that, he taught a dozen small muddy children to forage for the wild garlic spring onions, dancing underneath the dappled forest light. He taught them to bite upon the garlicky delicacy until their urges were subdued. And he watched proudly as one by one, they stopped gnawing on the green leafy ends... and each other.
Gin became smitten at his ability to talk for hours about the potent flavor of a young ramp, and Dan fell deeper in love when she replied, "That sounds like it would great in Chinese food." And she was greatly moved when Dan took gentle care to tell the youngest child that he had to put back the ramp bulb, when that child had pulled the plant up in one clumsy yank.
They hit it off and started dating shortly after. Their shared love for travel and adventure has taken them to natural springs all around the world, from spring water in Asia to road tripping across the United States. They are excited to start their next adventure together as Dan and Gin, married partners for life.

"I love you more than rice."
- Gin
